Everyone likes to go downtown for a visit, right? But from the suburbs of Laval, going to downtown Montreal can sometimes be a bit of a chore. Driving through all the construction headaches and then finding parking and PAYING a fortune for that parking can make Laval residents think twice. But with Centropolis, the problem is solved. Centropolis was the brainchild of ex-mayor Gilles Vaillancourt whom many believe was Lavals greatest mayor.Centropolis combines entertainment, shopping and gastronomy into one area located just south of the largest shopping mall in eastern Canada, Carrefour Laval.Conveniently located just off the Autoroute 15, Centroplis is home to the Colossus movie theatre playing all the first run films. Going to the Colossus is a real treat for movie-goers.If dining is your thing, the easy going pub-style atmosphere of Les Trois Brasseurs with their homemade ales on tap and their trademark Flammekeuches will tame anyones hunger. Mozza is also there serving up fine quality Italian food and the Asian influence is not lost at Centropolis either where diners can feast on sushi and other favorites. These are just a few of the truly fantastic restaurants scattered throughout. For the adventurer in all of us, SkyVenture is located here as well and is one of the premier skydiving simulators in the province. Floating on a blast of air that propels would-be skydivers into the air, young and old, women and men and kids too are given the opportunity to try out their best aerobatic moves in a fun and safe environment. Also located in Centropolis is the Cosmodome which is considered to be NASA's Space Camp North. An air and space museum combined with a real Space Camp for kids of all ages come together under one roof. If the vastness of space is your thing, then the Cosmodome is a must-see.So there you have it! Great food and great entertainment is waiting for you in downtown Laval at the open-air Centropolis.

Great place in the summer to sit on a terrace to dine or just hang out with friends for a drink. They always have music playing, and in the winter they set up a small ice rink. There are several shops, but I do think it's mostly known for dining. If you are planning a trip here on Friday or Saturday evening, be prepared to wait, it's always full.I don't find this to be a tourist attraction though, but a great area for dining.

After hitting one of the largest malls in Quebec (Carrefour Laval) my family was a tad hungry, so we stopped at the Centropolis for lunch. There's tons of food options in this plaza composed mainly up of restaurants and cafes. We ended up going to the grand opening of Menchies Frozen Yogurt Cafe and we got a dollar of our froyo!

It is nice architecture, but the most of places are the restos and they are very expensive. The commerces look deserted.
