It is a great spot to learn about marine life in the St. Lawrence. It isn't Chicago or Boston aquarium but you are far from paying those price. I though that the quality for the price was good. There is touch pool where you get to tough hermit crabs, sea stars, sea cucumbers, urchins and others. The kids really enjoyed that part. I even learned about the atlantic wolfish, a specie that I didn't know that existed. You can also pay extra for a boat ride excursion but we didn't do that. The cafeteria is excellent.

It is very interesting to learn about the marine life in the St Lawrence. You are invited to hold some of the marine creatures. We had seafood soup for lunch which was top notch! Wonderful experience even for adults!!

We spent 1.5 hours touring the museum/aquarium, and that was more than sufficient. The best part is the Tactile exhibit, where the kids (and adults) get to hold sea creatures. My kids really enjoyed that part. My only complaint with it is that despite my kids only speaking english and the group being small, the guide would give long explanations in french, and just the name in english of the sea creature. The upstairs exhibits are interactive and fun for kids, but the descriptions on how to use the interactive things are worded in a strangely technical fashion, both in english and in french. The cafeteria is fairly good by cafeteria standards. The nice surprise were the cute kids platters with a take home container. He sad surprise is that the lobster soup contained no traces of lobster despite a hefty price tag. There are lots of playgrounds inside and out for the kids to burn off some steam.I did appreciate the free wifi. The admission is quite reasonable, so I still recommend it as something to do, especially on a rainy day, but just arrive with your expectations in check.

The boat ride, and lifting cages of crabs and shellfish. Very nice guide and very instructive afternoon.

It was a rainy day so it was a perfect indoor activity for our 5yr old daughter. She loved the hands on demo...touching and holding starfish, sea urchin, sea cucumber etc.

Although we have no children, we always like to go to an aquarium, and this time we were not disappointed. Upstairs there is firstly a part with screens with underwater life. You can sit down and just watch, very nice. The other part is a fascinating interactive exhibition on the various senses, and how they work for fishes/whales. It is mainly focused at children, but as adults we also found it very well done and informative. Below are the different aquariums with fish and marine life from the Saint-Laurent. We could join a tour with explanations for almost every aquarium. Then there was a tactile part of half an hour, with a lobster, crab, starfish, snails and a few other things you could touch/gold with good explanations. It was all very interesting and very well done, with really friendly and competent staff.

We liked this attraction. We took part in the "hands on" holding of sea life. Definitely do this if you can. It will make the visit worth while.

Exploramer was highly recommended by friends. It is a sealife museum and discovery centre. The information panels are bilingual - English, French. Normally, the two floors of exhibits would take between 1-2 hours, we stayed all day! Yes, the lower floor alone with its many aquarium tanks, is a fascinating study on sea life. You can get up close and personal, including touching starfish and sea cucumber at the touch tank (done with staff only -- they know how to handle the creatures so they don't get hurt, and you neither.. the crab was very feisty!). We joined a 1 hour tour by a staff member who was very knowledgeable (this was done in French since we speak it, so I cannot confirm if English was available). I could have stayed much longer watching the creatures. It certainly was my highlight. It depends what you are into. The upper floor was divided into two parts. One part was a darkened underwater simulation where you could relax on one of a number of bean bag chairs while watching huge multiple screens of sea life and sea creatures. We enjoyed this very much. The other part was fun and educationally geared to children, though we learned much too. The displays were very interactive -- sight, sound, touch, smell etc. Inviting and everything working well.We took a break for lunch just outside in the picnic area. Exploramer is right by the water with lovely views. There is a high observation tower you can go up to get even better views. The fee for entry $12.5 per adult, was worth the day's outing to us.There is a sea excursion at an extra cost leaving from Exploramer but we didn't have time so I cannot comment on that. I have found out that some of the exhibits are temporary, but the quality is so professional that any exhibits there will likely be interesting.
