A litte village in the beautiful Rocky Mountains, offering nearby hiking rails, ski slopes, wildlife, wild water rafting, dogsledding and all the outdoors that you can think of in both summer and winter. Plus a main street with great hotels, restaurants and bars, gift shops and sport shops. It's safe, friendly and breathtakingly beautiful. How much gorgeousness can you get in one place ?

Truly, the best beer in town, two excellent IPAs, great food, great staff, many locals, free Wi-Fi. Because beer matters!

If you want to get away from it all Banff Ave may not be the placefor you. Lots of shopping to get lost in and the prices were ok.There was also alot of different nationalities that made it interesting to hear the dialects. Depends on what you are looking for. Restaurants too.

Lots of shops and restaurants with beautiful mountains on either end. Plenty more throughout Banff, along with grocery and liquor stores, with plenty of parking.

When you visit Banff, you have no choice but to spend at least a bit of time roaming back and forth on Banff Avenue. The picturesque avenue has undergone a face lift in the last few years and is now more pedestrian friendly. Unfortunately, the best photograph is looking down the middle of the avenue toward Cascade mountain, which means that often pedestrians end up in the middle of the street trying to get the perfect shot. However, it you're less interested in amateur photography and more interested in shopping, this is the place for you. There are lots of gift shops, clothing shops, candy stores, restaurants and cafes down this street and in the adjoining side streets. Some complain that it has become a bit too corporate, but when you have millions of visitors arriving each year, this can't be avoided. The avenue still maintains it's charm and you don't have to dive into the stores every five steps, if you don't want to. It's enough to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the quaint architecture while ignoring the brand names everywhere.

The thing I love about Banff Ave is that no matter what wat you're walking up or down the street, you can look up and be surrounded by sun capped peaks everywhere. Wow, it really is stunning and what you imagine a little Canadian Rockies town to look like. There are loads of candy shops around - not sure why and lots of merchandise shops like North Face, Helly Hansen etc. A nice place for a walk. Head a block back and you will find lots of cool restaurants.

Lots of deals available on souvenir items but if just buying maple syrup or maple candy type items than go over to Bear st and find a little Japanese store that also sells sushi. Much cheaper for the exact same items and very friendly staff!
