This is the area's nicest lake and the only one suited for swimming due to high enough water temperature. The provincial campsite is popular and has nice old growth coastal forest which escaped logging. The park has a campground and two beach areas - Furlong bay and Gruchy's beach.

This is quite a nice park and it was not very busy in the campground when we were there (we did not camp). Lots of tall cedars everywhere, typical coastal forests. The beach area by the boat launch was quite busy.1) DOCK: They have a nice little dock right by the launch, very handy for launching and loading or as a spot to dock for a short while. The dock however was over crowded with kids as some sort of group seemed to be there, quite dangerous as they kept jumping into the water; parks should really put a no swimming from dock sign.2) LAUNCH: Beware - the cement pad is very short and there is a 10" to 12" drop at the end of it. While we were there one guy got his trailer (after loading his boat on it to leave) seriously stuck on this big drop, he subsequently damaged his boat trailer and had to unload his boat again to get the trailer fixed. Be very careful. People there seem to be obvivious to the fact that this is a boat launch and not a swimming hole, twice I had to wait for people to remove themselves (and their little kids) from the launch and the water at the launch. It's precarious enough sometimes to back up boat trailers, having brainless people hanging out behind you as you back up makes it more difficult. Again, a simple 'no swimming' sign at the end of the launch would be a good idea as people don't seem to be able to figure this out for themselves.

A beautiful park, well maintained!! Absolutely lovely campsite, great fire pits and picnic tables. Fantastic beach with boat launch. Lovely trails. A great camping experience!

There are a couple of trails at Lakelse that very well done. I think some of the more aggressive wheel chairs could make the hike. Nice clean warm water lake to swim in.

Love going for an evening stroll here. Very quite and beautiful. Very clean and taken care of. Loved visiting this place.
