Just finished playing Furry Creek for the second time after giving it a rest after 6 years..as a woman golfer with a 16 HCP I found it extremely frustrating especially on the par 3's...either way too long with 130 yard carry over a gorge to the other end of the spectrum 75-100 yards it seems like the red tees (ladies)were an afterthought.BUT the scenery alone was worth it...stop and take a picture of the scenic 14th hole, have a bite but keep on driving with clubs in your car..or stop and play Squamish or continue up to Whistler..

Whenever I have out of town guests, I make sure I take them to Furry Creek. It's an incredible experience. Everyone walks away saying how much fun they had playing this course. Incredible views on almost every hole. This is a must if you visit the West Coast.

From the great view from the perch of the 1st tee, to the signature hole, this golf course is awesome, we are already looking forward to our next trip up there next month. Living in Texas, we just don't have courses like this around, with great views and elevation changes.

Great spot to stop for lunch or dinner to or from Whistler. Ordered a hamburger and was told they can only cook hamburger meat medium well. It tasted pretty good considering it was over cooked for me. The restuarant sits on a hill over looking part of the golf course and a little bit of the bay. The restaurant is open to the public.

....or is the drive part of what makes the experience special...? As a life-long Lower Mainlander, I have been fortunate to have played Furry Creek 8-10 times over the past dozen years. As a frequent visitor to Whistler, I always look longingly at the signature Hole 14 as we drive past and have been tempted to pull over and hit a couple towards the flag (I note that they have now installed fences along the roadway - curses!). On a rare constraint-free weekend, my son and I had the opportunity to play the course on a glorious closing day in mid-October. Check in was seamless and customer service staff were very gracious. We were paired up with a couple of seniors who at first seemed a tad miffed that there was a junior in their group, but after said junior posted better scores than them on the first few holes they warmed up a tad. Starter was excellent and gave good direction and carts were clean and well maintained. Course was in excellent shape despite a recent deluge and greens were consistent and fast. Fairways offered good bounce as did the various rocks and trees that we on occasion, came into contact with. We completed the round in 4:15 and throughout it were treated to the stunning viewscapes that Furry Creek is famous for. In all, it was a great return to the course and a great initiation for my son. While I am aware that Furry Creek has it detractors, I am thinking that it must be from those purists that are focussed on scoring well each time out. To truly enjoy Furry Creek, you must lower your scoring expectations, anticipate losing a few balls and bask in the glory that is mountainside and oceanside golf in BC. Admittedly, Furry is a course worth playing at least twice to better understand the blind spots and learn the required carry distances. In the interim, Furry is, in my opinion, a must-play-at-least-once, but even better a second or third time. Will definitely return, and yes, the drive from Vancouver along the Sea-To-Sky highway never disappoints.
