magic valley fun park

Went there this summer for the first time in a few years. The water slides are the only real attraction worth spending time on and even they aren't great. The train is just silly, might be ok for very little kids but what kid over the age of 3 will want to go on a train that just loops passed the woods full of garbage, the storage for more train cars and a shed full of trash. Only one ride was open, the school house in the village stunk like cigarettes and the price was way too high. I don't recommend this place unless they lower costs for next season.

My family, my in-laws and my sister in-law and her children all visited the Magic Valley Fun Park this past weekend. The Family of Four price was $72.00 (rounded up) which included all rides and the waterslides. The Park Admission was $8.00 which is what my husband and I got since our child was old enough to ride most rides there. Overall, the staff was very nice and accomodating. I think the amount of visitors this place gets likely just covers the cost of up-keep and the staff so maybe that's why they haven't put any money into getting new rides or renovating the existing ones so they work.The first "ride" we came to was a small paved flat area with four "walking" cars for toddlers. My 5 year old nephew and my daughter (who is 7) were both able to get into them but after about 30 seconds they were bored and we moved on. Storybook village was next. The village is in a wooded section. Many of the old houses are the same as they were back in the 1980s when I went there as a child-and it doesn't look like they have been touched since. They were still filled with the same creepy dolls, taking the place as classic storybook characters, but in today's day and age most of these stories are unfamiliar to kids so none of the kids really knew what the house theme was (or cared). The castle at the top was closed (as usual-I think it was open once in the past 20 years that I've been there). The attendant for the rides was very nice and quickly told us which rides were functioning that day and which were not. None of the rides for older children worked (the scrambler and the swing-actually the whole scrambler was ripped out) so the kids entertained themselves on the coconut drop, the planes and the bunny rabbit ride for about 10 minutes. Then off we went through the rest of the "village." The grounds themselves seemed well kept, and the new rides looked clean but the older parts of this area just looked plain OLD. We then went down to the so-called petting zoo that consisted of a plastic cow and a single bunny who was happy to try and eat the bars on his cage. After a brief stay at the petting-rabbit (that you can't touch) we went to the paddle boats. The attendant let my husband and I take a boat out so that was a nice treat. We all paddled around the murkey lake for 10 minutes before heading over to the bumper boats. Much to our kids disappointment none of them were tall enough (minimum 48 inches) to get on the bumper boats by themselves and weren't crazy about sitting with mom and dad.So, off we went to the waterslides. The water was green and murky and only one big slide and the kiddie slide were running. Apparently both big slides are turned on when there is enough demand but I guess 5 kids on a sunny Sunday wasn't enough to get them turned on. The pool was dirty looking, it needed a serious cleaning. The change rooms and bathrooms were clean and well stocked. The cafe had everything you can throw in a deep fryer, ice cream and a slushy machine. The popcorn maker and the cotton candy weren't working much to my popcorn-loving husband's disappointment.We finished off the day with a round of mini golf. The area around the golf course could have a few paths to make getting around a bit easier, but overall it was adequate. We didn't take the train trip this visit (we came here a couple of years ago) since it consists of taking you thorugh the woods and back out again. Nothing to see, nothing to do, pretty boring stuff unless you've never been in the woods before...ever.So, for a grand total of about $40.00 for my family we likely won't be back. If you have a small child they might have more fun but any child over the age of 7 likely would get bored. Save your money and head to one of Nova Scotia's more well-maintained parks that have more current atttractions for kids.

None of the rides work, their 'petting zoo' has one rabbit.. seriously, who has one rabbit? Their storybook village half of it is closed.. complete waste of money!

This place hasn't been touched since I was a kid, 25yrs ago! Half the rides (and i use that term loosely) are never running. The place is dirty, neglected and broken! 10 years ago the owner once got in an argument with my mom in front of our young children, when she complained about the conditions. Even cursed at her! UNACCEPTABLE!! I swore I'd never go back! But we had a family get together last summer there and i reluctantly went......I'm sorry I spent the money! NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!

Went there last week. The staff were horrible acted like we were bothering them to do their jobs and treated us like we were gonna steal stuff. Only 2 of the little kids rides worked, There were no animals in the petting zoo. No one told us when paying, i wouldnt have taken my 3yr old. There is geese feces everywhere. The slide water is being pumped in from a river so its disgusting brown color. The train worked so that was a plus until you got to drive by all the garbage they have put in the woods and tunnel. Would never go back, they have really let it go down hill.

My 8 year old son and I had a wonderful time at Magic Valley fun park today! It was cloudy so not many people were there, but the staff were wonderful and rides sooooo much fun! Bumper boats were great, pedal boats relaxing, waterslides super whizzy and little fairground rides and Fairy Tale 'cottages' and scenes in the grounds just delightful! It is an older park and yes the water is hard so water rides are tarnished, but everything smells of chlorine and is clean and the pool was heavenly, on a warm afternoon. We stayed 5 hours and only gave up as we were getting sunburnt - there are picnic tables in shade and plenty of loely trees and shrubs in the well kept grounds. No lockers though. If you want a fun day out ( and we NEVER lined up for a ride at all!!!) and are practical about the age of things I am sure you'll have a fabulous time as we did!

Nothing at the park was working the pool looked disgusting, the castle was under construction, no animals in the petting zoo, the train is functioning, Daisy the cow isn't functioning, and animal feces left all over the park for tourists to walk in. The park is still charging full admission...SAVE YOUR MONEY and go somewhere else.

If you're looking for some fun on the water slides, then you might as well visit. That's pretty much the only attraction left at the park.The rest of the park, however, is extremely run down and the owners seem to not care for its maintenance anymore. As a kid, this place was the best - water slides, a well maintained pool, almost new rides, fun staff, and a gift shop full of beanie babies. Nowadays, it seems that the place was left to rot. There's not many attractions in the park left, and their swing ride has been laying there for at least five years now - I highly doubt it will ever be finished. The staff are treated poorly, we've seen them yelled at several times. It used to be great, but there isn't much left - all the while the admission price has seemed to increase. Hopefully someone will take it over and return it to its former glory.

don't listen to the reviews on here, go find out for yourselves...like we did....it was great, ainslee loved it, just ran from one thing to another,,no big lineups, just up the waterslide and back down continually, and yes the slides are water stained at the bottom, maybe they have hard water, but it is certainly not green and slimy,,,had lifeguards at all stations..they rides (3) were working and she loved them...the food was good and reasonably priced, the staff very friendly...and cost 41.00 for the three of us for the day..lots of space to eat and leave your stuff....I would recommend it if u want a great place to take your kids for a day and not have to wait in long lines...just remember people its not Disney world, so don't expect Disney world quality....

We had a great day at Magic Valley. The water slides are perfect for young children. My daughter enjoyed the three rides that were up and running. especially flying in the airplanes. The food was very reasonally priced. We took our own drinks in with us. My daughter loved the ice cream cones and I loved the prices of them. The train was not working and the castle was closed due to the bunnies not working. However my daughter did not know so she didn't care. She enjoyed playing mini golf or as she calls it "hockey ball" lol. The bumper boats were fun and I love that they allow young children to sit on your lap on the bumper boats and on the bigger water slides as well : ) Where it is a nice quiet place to go it is fabulous to go somewhere where the line ups are barely there and you get to go on the water slides and other rides very quickly. Myself I enjoy going out on the paddle boats. Seems they had some newer ones and they were nice to be on.The only major thing missing was the animals but my daugher once again didn't know they were suppose to be there so she didn't care. We had a great family day with her and I was so happy seeing her have fun where I have been going since it opened in 1971. I will take her back again next year.
