I love the idea of Pier 21, however, only after I paid admission was I allowed to try to look up my grandparents. However, at that point I found out that they only had information on people who immigrated to Canada before 1940. I was extremely disappointed to find this out after I paid.

When in Halifax Pier 21 is well worth a visit. A real insight into the early immigration process for Europeans emigrating to Canada. Many early immigrants came to Canada with little to nothing but the cloths on their backs. The efforts and skills they brought to Canada is the back bone of what Canada is today. A list of all immigrants who came though Pier 21 is available. My wife even found her grand parents who immigrated from Hungry. A great find!!We'll worth a couple hours.

Mom and I went to see if we could find out about her parents immigration. We didn't think we'd find anything at Pier 21 as it was opened 2 years after my grandparents landed. Great staff & lots of information!! They have digitalized files for more than just Pier 21. We got information on the boat they sailed over on and on Pier 2 where they landed. Also got copies of their paperwork from landing - where they left Europe from, who vouched for them here, what they did and more, much more ... absolutely priceless!!

The Immigration Museum at pier 21 has a vast database that files videos, photos, or records of those that immigrated to Canada through this area. The area was not interesting to me, but if you have a relative that immigrated here I would recommend it.

Went with some of my family to see where it all began. Great museum set up just how immigration was when they came! We were able to find both my parents boats, and located my Dad's family names on the passenger lists. Such a neat experience.

We paid 10 dollars each to see a room with glass cases containing open suit cases that contain what various people may have taken with them to start a new life in Canada. We were advised to see the 'interesting' film about immigration which we did, it had absolutely no historical stories, just short snippets of people that had moved to the country in recent years, not very interesting at all. There is a large market next door that was good for gifts.

I entered the museum with great anticipation and was captivated by the displays, photos and artifacts shared. Everything from the immigrant's stories to the simulated train trip allowed me an opportunity to experience the journey of my ancestors. Finding my grandfather's name in the archives was amazing! To have seen and walked the pier he landed at over 100 years ago was a humbling experience. Thank you for presenting this incredible historic site!

We were disappointed that the museum was being reburbished.so it was closed. The cruise ship we were on docked right beside it. Having been to Halifax before this was attraction I was hoping to see. Great info on outside.

Not impressed at all. It's not what I would call a museum. They claim it is being re-vamped for 2015. Very expensive.

we like history so we found it interesting, informative, people were searching for the boat their ancestors took, our case is different as we are Acadian descendants...thank you
