Then, the Avon Theatre will be the venue for you when visiting Stratford, Ontario. This is the theatre where many of the so-called "lighter" entertainment takes place. It is located in downtown Stratford. Accordingly, parking is a bit of an issue unless you are prepared to walk several blocks. There is very limited parking (2 spaces) in front of the theatre designated as "Handicapped Parking", for those who have the appropriate Permit. This theatre is not as comfortable or spacious as the Festival Theatre, nor does it have the same seating capacity, so if you are interested in musical productions, order your tickets early. The sell out fast!

I have seen many plays here over the years and have very few complaints. The latest upgrade gave the theatre a beautiful new façade and made it easier for handicapped patrons. The building is a vintage old live theatre (vaudeville days) that was converted to a movie theatre then converted back to a live theatre venue, and the only spot that shows its age (and thus the reason for not top marks) is in the upper balcony where the seats are very uncomfortable (the seat cushions are fine but the distance for your legs is very tight. I had a mark on my leg from the seat in front, I was glad I was on an aisle seat so I could stretch out my legs a little). We have seen a lot of musicals here and the acoustics are great, have also seen some English comedies like The Importance of Being Earnest and Hay Fever which lend themselves to this style of theatre. I can highly recommend this theatre for your visit to Stratford.

We went to see Alice and the Looking Glass, great fun even for older people. Nice theater, good seats and the cast was marvellous. Although some actors were hard to follow. Others had great voices. The Humpty Dumpty guy had a real good voice, loud, clear and most likely from England according to his accent. All is in walking distance in Stratford, hotels, B&Bs, restaurants and coffeshops like Revel across the square.

What a beautiful theater...comfortable seating and convenient to get to. Within walking distance of our hotel, cafe's and pubs. The show was superbly performed. An absolute return visit is on the list!

Lovely theatre and the show was great. Very complicated and dynamic set which helped to showcase the music and drama. Great performances, especially the lead, and wonderful overall production.

The older parts of the theatre are well preserved and provide a sense of occasion. We were there for Man of La Mancha, a musical. The seats are great throughout the house and the Company is top-notch.

I love Noel Coward and was introduced to his plays at the Avon Theater in Stratford Ontario, many years ago. As a result, going to straford has become an annual excursion for my wife and me. This year we saw Hay Fever. The play was performed very well. Last year we saw Blythe Spirit which is my favorite, but still enjoyed Hay Fever. I always get the best seats, about 5-7 rows back from the stage and right in the middle. The best part about this is that the cost is about 30% for seats in a similar location at any of the large theaters in downtown Toronto. We had another great day!

The seating was as expected - offset to person in front. The acoustics were good. Only concern was washroom capacity at intermission.

As someone with hearing loss, using hearing aids, the headsets one can rent are not useful to me. So it is nice that the Avon has good acoustics. Hay Fever and Alice were very good. Actually Alice was phenomenal! We saw it Sept 21. The director and the artistic team were really innovative. The children in the audience were clearly thrilled by the play and of course with the jelly beans and the confetti cannons. Congrats!

We haven't been to Stratford since we were kids on a field trip. Our decision to see ATTLG was a whim and we were so thrilled we did it!! The theatre is lovely. And this play was hauntingly beautiful, memorable and so creative and well executed. I would see it again!
