We are on a trip and I've been trying to sample "non-factory" brews from across Ontario. On a recommendation from Meg at Embers, we came to check it out on a Thursday. Bob was able to give us a tour of their extensive bottled and canned beer selection (over 100 different kinds) and their draft beers. We sampled 8 kinds that were new to us. Bob was great, knew the beers, and has a ton of great stories to tell on top of that. According to Bob, Thursday is Pizza and a pint day, they normally sell a dozen plus pizzas in the evening.

Loplops appeared on the local nightlife scene with little fanfare about half a decade ago but has quickly built a reputation for holding fantastic local and national musical acts. It's a staple on at least twice a month for my friends and I, as we are always up for discovering new and unique Canadian bands.Even though the drinks are a bit pricey and there is often a small cover, we are never deterred. It's the type of place you go for casual drinks and good music, not to get belligerently drunk. The selection of beers and liquors is enough to make any connoisseur happy. The walls towards the back of the lounge are often adorned with local paintings, drawings and photography that you can even purchase if you're interested in local artists.As I mentioned it's a cozy place and I mean COZY. It's quite small near the stage, so if you're interested in a band, get there early. But to me, that is what makes a music lounge attractive and personal.
