Nice setting and not-unreasonable green fees. One of the better courses in the Durham region. Both the Deer Creek courses are actually quite nice. Have played here at least 5 times over the years and the grounds are always well kept.

If you want to play on a course where the marshalls are elitist pricks and the head pro does not care about the concerns of its paying customers, then Deer Creek golf club is perfect for you. We were the second group off in the morning after a one hour fog delay so there were many groups waiting at the first tee by the time play could start. After the 5th hole the marshall asked us if we could let the group behind us to play through. They played fast and as we were walking and they were carting, it was was perfectly fine to let them play through. After the front 9, we got to the 10th hole and the marshall asked us to either skip ahead 1 or 2 holes or leave the course because we were not keeping up with the group ahead. He blamed us for slowing all the groups behind us even though there was never a time where next group behind us was waiting for us to finish a hole. Even after we took time to go to the bathroom after the 9th hole (about 5 minutes), the group behind us was not even finished the 9th hole when we got to the 10th tee. Despite that, we obliged the marshall's request and skipped the 10th hole even though there was no other group behind us waiting to tee up. After finishing 11 and 12, the marshall came back and asked us to skip 2 holes again! We showed him that the group behind us was just teeing of on the par 3 11th when we were finishing up the 12th. It made no sense. He told us he would ask that group as well to skip ahead. This time we did not oblige his request and played the rest of the holes. We are paying customers, paid to play the course. We are not going to skip holes if it is not warranted. It was obvious they were concerned about the backlog that the fog delay caused but pinning the blame solely on our group was ridiculous and absurd. Yes, the group we let play through, played fast and we didn't keep up with them. But our pace of play was fine. I have been playing golf for 15 years without incident and I know and follow all golf etiquette. How can you ask paying customers to skip holes even though there is no group behind you? I am not sure if he was asking the other groups behind us to skip holes as well but it makes no sense to me to ruin the golf experience of the early groups because you want to relieve the backlog from the fog delay. After we finished 18, we wanted to complete the 10th hole that we were asked to skip to complete our scorecard and cleared it with the starter. He was perfectly fine with it. As we were playing the hole, the same marshall came up to us accused us of trying to sneak in another 9 holes. We explained to him that we cleared it with the starter but his comments were uncalled for. We are Asian descent in are mid 30's and he was an old elitist. He treated us like we were punks, zero respect in the way he spoke to us. We were seething angry at the treatment we had throughout the round but we did not show that to him, deciding to reserve our complaints to the golf pro after the game. The golf pro did not care about our concerns and told us he would be happy to never have us play a round at Deer Creek ever again. It is an unfortunate situation that Deer Creek is run by people like this. I have come here quite a bit over the 15 years I have played but never again. I implore anyone else that wants to be treated with dignity and respect to bypass this golf club as well. There are many other quality courses in the GTA where the workers will value each and every customer despite their age and descent.

Every year we attend the Good Shepherd Golf day to raise funds for the homeless. Almost 400 people and the folks at Deer Creek pull of seamlessly. Hats off to all of their staff. Nice course in great shape this year. Well worth your time.

I enjoyed the friendly, courteous assistance from the staff. The courses ( 3 separate nines) are fair and challenging, depending on the tee that is selected. They are good value for the money. There is an opportunity to view beavers, foxes, deer and birds, as you travel fairways. You can enjoy a good selection of beer and generously portioned meals at Gem Room, after your round
