I am so sorry that your experience wasn't what you expected from the winery. I see from your address that you're our neighbour. I would really love to hear any specific constructive criticism that would make it a great experience and one where you will stop by and visit us in the future. Many of our local residents are proud of the winery and we have a guest book full of happy travellers who have come as a guest of a local fan of our wines. I have added my personal email. Please reach out to me at kmatthews@burningkilnwinery.ca. We'd love it if you'd give us another shot at making it a positive, memorable experience.Karen Matthews

It is always a treat to discover a treasure in your own back yard. The Burning Kiln winery is just that, a gem. We had a very pleasant visit in the shoulder season and enjoyed the genial hosts, Brian and Emily. They are very knowledgeable about their products and are more than willing to engage their guests in conversation. Even though the restaurant was closed we were able to get a generous plate of cheeses and crackers to go with our wine sampling which at 3 samples for five dollars is a good deal.. All of the locally produced wines are outstanding but I must say that I particularly enjoyed the Riesling.. The winery is pleasant stop when travelling the many excellent Norfolk roads. Do visit, I am sure you won't be disappointed.

I live in an area close to the winery, as we had family visiting us from the UK we thought it would be a great place to visit. 2 weeks earlier we had booked a meal and wine tour.We were assured that we could eat our meal inside as our guest did not like eating outside. Upon arrival we were told we could only eat outside. After several requests to be seated inside we were finally and reluctantly shown to our seat inside. We ordered our food and we're extremely disappointed when our 4, small, over salted, over cooked burgers appeared on a cheap bun with no garnish, the kettle chips were overcooked and we certainly expected more for $16 a plate. The wine we had with dinner was fine although a little overpriced. We had booked our tour for 4 pm, by 4.20 pm we had to find remind the server that our tour was late, When the tour guide finally showed up he was clearly annoyed with us and it showed during his tour. The whole experience left a poor impression on our visitors. We will not be returning and will not be recommending it to anyone else.

We attended a reception for a small national conference at Burning Kiln last night. Wonderful ambiance, fantastic food, very good wine, friendly service, unique location. The zipline / star-gazing observatory operation across the road came by and gave us an excellent live presentation about the stars and planets in the night sky over the winery. Magical evening!

Dear Sean,I would love to discuss this experience with you. Our gift cards do not expire and am surprised this happened to you at our facility. In general, our team works really hard to make sure that when our guests arrive they have a great experience as we are a destination location and we know the effort people make to find us.I am also surprised to hear that there are other colleagues (?) that have had the same experience. I have reached out to you through your personal contacts with my phone number in hopes that together we can sort this out.Looking forward to hearing from you.Karen Matthews

My husband and I visited here from Raleigh, NC on Labor Day weekend. The vineyard is wonderful with great wines, knowledgeable staff, and wonderful views over Lake Erie. Nice outdoor areas - we were able to have our small dogs at the picnic tables on the grassy area. David's food truck was there and we had an amazing appetizer of corn meal crusted sharp cheese, with onion and marmalade chutney. This is our second visit, we will be back again

The Burning Kiln winery is definitely a "must-see" attraction in Norfolk County. It is comparable to any winery in Southern Ontario, and even though I am not a frequent wine drinker, I heartily recommend any of their wines, many of which are award-winners! Even the Parliament in Toronto is using their wines exclusively. To add to the experience, the facilities are top-notch for a recent start-up in the vineyard tourism industry. Don't miss this one!

This is a "new" winery. Staff and management are super friendly. Nice terrace restaurant - winery has paired with a local restaurant for food service. Good food, smallish portions. Both wine and food are on the somewhat higher side of prices for our tastes.Hard to find using google maps/gps as the address and road name do not give one but different results (the real one is the one at Turkey Point!)

After an afternoon of zip lining our guides recommended we go to the winery. When we got into the tasting room there was one other couple there. Two girls and one guy working. The girls were pleasant but did not seem to talk about the wine or recommend anything. I live near prince Edward county, huge wine area so this to me was really interesting. The wine is delicious and I am thankful that they have a paper with descriptions. I wound up buying 4 bottles to bring back home and grandma bought 3. The girl behind the tasting counter was not too excited to serve at all. That was until we chose to have some food from the food truck. The food we ordered was absolutely delicious and we loved all of it. The girl who was also working the wine tasting was our server. She became friendlier once we ordered some food. The winery got fairly busy and they definitely could have used an extra server. They were doing the best they could for what it was. The dishwasher was also very friendly as he was out and about occasionally helping the girls. This was definitely a good thing. I would certainly recommend people to stop at this winery as the product is very good and the food is also very good. My suggestion is for busier times to have one person focus on the food area. Or a separate runner for food. The couple eating before us went up and got their own from the food truck as the girls did not go fast enough.

We have been to this winery and Bistro several times. The first time was two years ago when they had a Mennonite woman cooking incredible top end food. It was an outstanding combination: you could sample a few wines, select one and enjoy an amazing meal. Last year they had their own chef. Again a great pairing, with lovely wines, an outdoor ambiance, and great food.Alas, this year they have chosen to go with a food truck from David's in Port Dover. David's gets some good reviews, however, those I suspect, are more for their location and ambiance rather than for the food. We were disheartened at seeing the food truck, but felt it only fair to give the food a try. The 4 small ribs had good flavour, but little meat and were so sparse and so chewy as to be nearly inedible. The 'rice cakes' that came with it were desperately bland and tasted like they had sat around for half the day. The lamb was more plentiful but nearly flavourless, and sat on a bed of dry bland couscous. Blah! The burgers were decent as was the steak, but the kettle fries need work. Very disappointing! After two years of outstanding food paired with lovely wine, we are left with some very nice wines (try the 2011 Chardonnay, the Pinot Gris, and a $59.00 2011 red wine that is excellent), but the wine suffers from the dreadful pairing. We actually have a place not far away. And Burning Kiln was a favourite spot to bring friends. Unfortunately, not any more.
