I came through here heading from Detroit to Quebec. I've been to several automobile museums all around the world. Based on that this was a disappointment. Not to say it was bad, just not worth the side trip to see it. All told it took me less than 30 minutes to go through the entire place reading many of the placards and at a slow walk. The place was deserted. Even so, the attendant was required to walk with me as a security detail. She was helpful and did answer some questions.Of interest were the hearse, a very early trailer, and one of the earliest BMWs showing what they started as - a mini car with the windshield as the door. Take a look at the photos.

Always a delight to visit both the museum and, in decent weather, to wander the marvelous collection of original homes and old commercial buildings. Sort of a pioneer village it is a place where really authentic old buildings are kept, restored and protected. Former prominent Canadian Eugene Whelan's original family log home is here. This Museum complex has become so sophisticated that it plays host to several of Windsor-Essex County's ElderCollege courses for folks over age 55. Courses on autos and local history have added a whole new and positive dimension to the Museum and Village. There is also a very good little Café for breakfasts and lunches.

Very nice visit and wonderfull people great experience i visited from the Netherlands came by bus from Toront to London an took of the bus in Tilbury .I took a cab to the museum.I had a private tour with one of the owners of the museum and a great lunch. The 1893 Shamrock is the first Canadian car .This brand was imported to the Netherlands in 1914 by a sales men from Amsterdam and he sold these cars to the brother of my grand father. That was the reason why i like to see this museum. Mr. Mickey Moulder was an excellent guide and it was a wonderfull day in the museum.

Decided to go on a day trip and was interested to see what they had to offer. Started with lunch in their 50's diner; then onto see the cars and motorcycle exhibit - literally from the very first to the 80's Quite the display including Harley's, Model T's, ambulances, firetrucks, etc. Then onto the "village" to see over 25 different homes, a train station, a police station, a general store, etc. that had been moved to this site to preserve these unique buildings. If you're looking for an interesting excursion and enjoy cars, motorcycles, homes, etc. - I'd highly recommend you check this out

This is a wonderful addition to the attractions in this area. The Canadian Transportation Museum is one of the best stocked auto museums we have ever toured. Countless hours of volunteer work has gone into this place and it shows. In addition to the museum there is a unique 1950's style diner that is open for breakfast and lunch and can be entered without going through the museum section if you so wish. Outside the museum building are acres and acres of historic buildings from the local area including train station, schools and church, general store and many historic homes. Come for a visit' and you will not be sorry.

The transportation museum and heritage village is a quaint but complete display. The local history in the heritage village is collection of buildings which represent the area. The best time to visit is during another event on the grounds to get the best of both worlds.

This place is definitely worth visiting if you are in the area. There are three locations to see here. The old wooden houses from all over the area including the old railway station building, the transport museum with lots of old Cars, motorcycles and tractors etc and the EMS museum with again old vehicles. Be warned however that you cannot view any of the attractions as individuals you have to on a guided tour, these are arranged and conducted on an as required basis so you don't have to wait very long. Our guide was very informative. You'll need a couple of hors to see it all, but its worth it. They have a very good American themed diner there too where we had lunch. It was very good and prices were reasonable too. Entry to all the attractions was $11. Bargain.
