They gave amazing displaces that are permanent and gives you a true picture of how Kenora and area came to be the place you see today.They also have displays and show amazing quilting show every year....amazing talent in this area. Artwork...Kenora and area have numerous artists of different mediums that often gave them demonstrating their craft skills. Did a fantastic show on World Wars soldiers from local areas. Amazing items for sake at gift shop. A number of local writers on Kenora history.

We found the museum very interesting and full of histeory. The museum is easy to find and always open in the summer. If there are a few rainy days you can spend two or more hours there just looking at how hard it was to be there in the early days.

We have visited Kenora one week every summer for the past four years, and we have never missed an afternoon at the Lake of the Woods Museum. Kenora may be a small city (15,000 plus), but the museum is as well organized, informative, and relevant as much larger institutions in much larger cities. This summer's special exhibit dealt with World War I through details of local participation in the Canadian forces and through a succinct and moving description of the major battles for Canadian troops. Our grandsons, ages 9 and 12, found the exhibition both interesting and moving.The permanent exhibits show life in Kenora. There are displays of furniture, clothing, and furnishings of earlier residents, and there are background photographs of life in the city and on the water over the years.Museum staff are happy to answer questions, and both printed and electronic guides are available for visitors. There is a small gift and book shop, and I have never come away without two or three interesting reads and a gift or two for family and friends.The Museum is truly a gem. Don't miss it!

this is a good place to start your visit to the area. you can learn about the origin and development of the town. lots of photos and artifacts. allow about an hour to see it all. good staff were very helpful.

I enjoyed taking my great-nephew to see this little museum aboutKenora. We enjoyed the old office and the boat models. Wouldhave liked to see something about Massacre Island and the Aulneauparty.

The museum is located at the south end of main street in Kenora. Inside you will be treated to the rich history of the Kenora area. The attraction is very well done, especially for a small town (city). I am a local resident and I visit it annually.

This is a great place to spend an hour or two on a rainy day. We drove there from Angle Inlet, MN. The drive took almost 2 hours due to the rain and bad gravel roads. After a delightful Greek lunch we drove a couple blocks to the museum. I had been there previously but my guests had not. We all enjoyed our visit. The museum uses blow-ups of old photos to help tell the tale of Kenora and Lake of the Woods. It is well done, interesting and very informative. I was plead to see my much younger guests enjoy it so much. The staff is very helpful and very friendly.

We have lived in Kenora for 12 years full time and this was the first time we went to the Museum, and we were very pleasantly surprised. A person could spend all day and not see everything. They change the vignettes often, so a person should go seasonally. The cost is very reasonable.

I have not been there in years but when I did go, it was just after they moved to the new building. It was good as far as museums go. I guess I just am not into museums.
