One of our stops in our two day visit to Gananoque was the Arthur Child Heritage Museum. The museum was well maintained, well staffed and filled with interesting exhibits. Time spent in this museum is time well spent, we can away informed and entertained.

We stopped at the museum after arriving in Gananoque. It's by the marina and cruise boarding area. Very interesting exhibit about the history of the region. They had a very good documentary about Boldt's Castle. If you have children, go to the top floor. There's an interactive game where they can drive a ship.

A great array of war related artifacts - I realize it was a special display, but would have liked more about local history. What there was was well displayed and accessible.

What a lovely surprise and excellent viewing on a rainy day. Full of information about the history of the area relating to its past industries, wars with America and a film about Boldt Castle. Not good for children as there is a lot of reading. The warden was very friendly and filled in many of the gaps.

We visited this museum on the afternoon we arrived in Gananoque. It gave us a great background of the history of the area, how the islands were formed, etc. The docents were very friendly and informative.

On the shore of the St. Lawrence River, next to the Gananoque Boat Line docks, is the Arthur Child Heritage Museum. The Heritage Museum is located on the site of the former main railway station of The Thousand Islands Railway, which was destroyed by fire in 1990.The building’s design is reminiscent of the original islands cottages and fabulous hotels that were built during the Golden Era.You can take a guided or self-guided tour, and learn about the War of 1812 between Canada and the United States, geography and wildlife of the region and the people of the First Nations. After your tour, take a short climb up the lookout tower for some magnificent views of St. Lawrence River.

My wife and I recently visited here and we really enjoyed ourselves. The woman at the front desk was dressed in period garb and the museum had an informative display on the War of 1812. It was interesting in that it told the war story from all sides and had artifacts from the war. Upstairs is the permanent display telling the history of the Gananoque area. Well worth a visit!
