Cypress Lake is an easy and short hike from the parking area, and worth every step. We visited on a cool, cloudy October day. The fall color was beautiful, reflected in the water of the lake. The trail around the lake simply begs to be walked, with its ranks of twisted cypress trees and rugged limestone outcroppings. Lots of critters to look for, too.

About 5k around, has beautiful views. We decided to run around the lake, stopped here and there to take pictures..on the map out front it said it was a fairly easy trail, (which is why we decided on a run instead of a walk)...we found this wasn't accurate. It was challenging with all the rocks and roots sticking out of the ground. Has sites for camping right on the lake. $11.70 to park the car for a day pass. Recommend good shoes, water bottle.

Oh my just the BEST. The Georgian Bay and Lake Huron are so strikingly beautiful. Enjoy it for the afternoon. Just nice to see the ohs and has when people come to the area.

The camping here is lovely. You're surrounded by natural beauty. I wish more people were allowed on the site at once.

For those folks out there that find they have a few days off and want to venture out into Ontario, drive and discover the unknown BY WHIM....well....this isn't exactly the place to do that. Planning ahead will save you time and frustration. I suppose most people who go up to this spectacular UNESCO site have adequate hiking gear, coolers full of yummy food, refreshing drinks, nuts...you get the picture...unlike us who spontaneously packed a spare pillow, underwear, bathing suit, and flip flops, and thought that would be enough. Silly silly us. Lesson learned. For all the sites on the trusty map they had out at the 'Visitor Centres' like Cyprus lake - Grotto, Sauble Beach, Dorcas Bay...you must arrive early, with a plan. Probably the worst time of the year to go is Aug. Busy busy busy. Oh..I'll go again, but with a plan..and gear. I will suggest eating at the DNA Fish fry truck on Highway 6, just south of Cyprus lake, on the east side, I believe. For $11 two can share fresh battered white fish and a massive load of fresh frys.

This was a beautiful day's hike, taking in the grotto and amazing cliffs and shoreline. It wasn't very busy when we visited (early July). I recommend wearing hiking boots and bug spray. Also, watch out for the water temperature - when I did a bit of paddling I felt like my feet had been cut off at the ankles, it was so cold!

Cyprus Lake and Bruce Peninsula, is by far the most beautiful area I have ever camped in! It does get quite crowded, but it's worth it for the spectacular views of the never ending shoreline and soaring cliffs! Cyprus Lake is a stunning area with lots of activities available, you can go canoeing/kayaking on the lake, hike tot he bay and see the grotto. A nice time to go is in winter, but they don't seem to be renting out the yurts in the winter anymore, so if you not a hard core camper, a day trip is still worth it! :)

Great hiking, great bouldering and awesome camping. The grotto does get very busy on the weekend so I recommend going on a week day if possible. Water is also very very cold. If hiking be sure to wear hiking shoes especially if you are headed towards the bruce trail.

Location: Group Camp site 1, Cyprus LakeTrip date: Fri July 25 - Sunday July 27Weather: On-and-off thunderstorms + clear weatherTrip Type: Group Camping (30+ people)Camp site type: Group SiteCost: Just over $300 (very good price for 30+ people)Verdict:- would visit Tobermory & Bruce Peninsula Park again- would *probably* return to Cyprus Lake campground for camping (but would choose a different site)Comments:The weather could have been better, especially since we had to sleep through a torrential downpour, but that's not anything that could have been controlled. The campground itself was pretty good for a large group. It comes with an enclosed metal fire pit, a large gazebo, and about 7 or 8 areas for tent pitching, separate septic washroom facilities, water pump (presumably a well). The washroom facilities have the following features:- 3 septic toilets (1 is handicap friendly)- sinks in each toilet stall- 1 large double sink for washing dishes- 2 personal outdoor sinksPros about campsite (only)- Washrooms were of good quality - ours had one broken toilet, but the park staff was quick to fix it and clean up the washroom- the gazebo is huge and very useful- the firepit is greatCons about campsite (only)- there is a trail that leads into this campsite! Random people kept showing up and walking through our site- this particular site isn't really that close to the water. If you want close proximity to Cyprus lake from a group campsite, pick site 2 or 3- the gazeebo (and some of the areas to pitch tents) are behind a marsh... standing water = mosquitoes... there were a lot of them!!!!- no shower facilities in the park (if you care)... you need to go outside the park for showers... and those are $2 for 2 minutes, coin operated, and you can only pay with $2 coinsPros about the area- Beautiful, clear, clean, COLD water of Georgian Bay- the Bruce trail is great- Cliff diving (if you're inclined)- many hiking options- washroom facilities Cons about the area- if you don't like to walk, this place ins't really for you- some "beaches" can be challenging to walk on because they do not have sand, they have smoothed rocks.. from pebble sized all the way to bowling ball size and bigger

Cyprus lake camping site is an amazing place to stay for couples, families and friends who need a get away and explore the nature of Canada and enjoy the feeling of being a part of it. I have been in this place 2 times. First time was in May and it was so quiet and most sites were empty. 2nd time was in mid June and the site was busier and a bit noisier and wash rooms may not as clean as 1st time but compare to provincial parks wash rooms are way cleaner . We stayed at Burch camping both times since it is my favourite one between 3 sites. If you like quiet site choose Tamarack since it is free-radio zone. The lake is so clean and relaxing itself but with 45 min of trail you have plenty of choices to explore as you get closer to Bruce peninsula. I can just say amazing, amazing and super unique nature. You must visit grotto for sure. don't be lazy get the map from front desk and go for hiking.
