I'm a history buff...visit the museum first, then drive around the grounds. Rent the recorders that give a verbal presentation of the exibits. Makes you realize just how hard life was on the plantation. it's recently opened, and needs some more attention, but a good attraction.

Interesting look back at some of the early plantation history of Curacao. The museum is still relatively new and will only get better. It is well worth stopping off on your way to Sheta Boka National Park.

The people at the museum and in Christoffel Park are super sweet. The museum is interesting and the park, beautiful. The sights, animals, flora and fauna are amazing. We even saw flamingos! A lot of walking. The four-wheel ride is bumpy and the terrain at the shore in the park is pretty hard to walk on ~ not suitable for those with a walker or cane.

I visited Savonet Plantation on an excursion from a cruise ship. The restoration of the buildings themselves is very good. Right now they have many boxes around the place because they're getting ready to make it into a museum with many thing to look at. It was interesting, but will probably be better in the future.
