I was especially excited to visit this garden as it was created in collabaration with a British Garden Designer. The idea of creating a forest, a meadow, fields and sculpture and art all intermixed was intriguing. A few years since its launch, I feel much of the area has already lost its lustre. The forest area was deserted; no one but I walked there the whole time I was there; many of the art installations were either broken or crossed off. The Yoko Ono installation requires a fix appointment and extra payment to view it. I feel that the initial enthusiasm has waned and the approach is more half hearted. It is still a beautiful place to visit, but the Tokachi Rokka No Mori gardens are doing a much better job right now.

Various styles of gardens are laid out in the 400 ha site. As well as selling gardening tools, there are facilities where you can enjoy dishes made with local ingredients. Worth visiting while they have annual Hokkaido Garden Show. A very clean, well-maintained area with friendly & helpful staff.
