This was an amazing experience. It's not everyday that you have the chance to get up close and personal with history. I took a trip to Tamgaly Tas with my Kazakhstan History and Culture class at University in my study exchange semester. Our guide was really great and informative, and it was just so cool to see these old, old, very old petroglyphs up close. Most areas had no ropes or barriers to keep you a distance away from the rocks. Walking around the area was part of the amazing experience, just imagining people from ages ago drawing these images and living there. I'd totally recommend a trip here!!! Bring water, sunblock, a hat, and some snacks!

Nobody in this place can have his/her soul and mind remained indifferent! Somebody is impressed by the few-thousands old Fire-altar inside the cave, somebody by ancient and medieval rock-engravings, somebody with the nature surroundings, including Ili river, and somebody with just an overall misterious and highly spiritual atmosphere of the place!

Very interesting place.The 3000 years old petroglyphs are well preserved and the guided tour is ideal to see them all. The guided tour lasts almost 2 hours.I didn't really like the fact that the guide (in principle paid by the park to do this job, the tour is supposed to be free for tourists) asked us for money at the end when we got into the car.In fact, we planned to give him a tip but because he requested it, we passed... (I know, not nice...)Visit the site on the afternoon because the light will be better to see the petroglyphs.

Though a bit remote - get a proper car to maneuver the roads - it is well worth the journey. It is an amazing experience to see these "paintings" and the grave places... plus the journey there and back is worth the trip already. The Staff at the site are great guides, always welcoming and knowledgeable. Bring time, as there is lots to see. Don't forget to stock up on water and picnic, as there is hardly any supplies along the whole road from Almaty and Tamgaly Tas

What is nice: Tamgaly is a petroglyph site. Some of the petroglyphs are several centuries old, like a beautiful image of Buddha. Some are older and reflect those times when flora and fauna were more abundant in Kazakhstan. Some are easily accessible and seen, others may require some time to be found. The site is on the bank of the river Ile, which is beautiful and surprisingly large for this dry area. If you go there in spring/early summer, you will see the blooming steppe and will be able to pick up mushrooms.What is wild: There is no regular transportation to the site. The distance from Almaty is about 120 km. You have to have a car or rent a bus from a tourist company. The last 8 kilometers or so is an unpaved road. There are no restaurants or toilets. On any day of the week you can see several families picnicking. Unfortunately, they leave a lot of trash.

Интересное, и пожалуй одно из моих самых любимых мест за городом Алматы, ехать строго с палатками и на 2 дня. в Начале мая проходит Международная Регата. Рекомендую, отдых для любителей активного отдыха.

Проживая всю жизнь в Алматы, я посетила это место лишь сейчас. Если вы любите отдыхать на природе - это отличное место. Горы,воздух,вода. Думаю интересное место для иностранцев. Дорога не близкая, но оно того стоит!

Была случайно проездом, и решила посетить это место. Было много народу и расстраивало отношение современного поколения к памятнику культуры. Рисунки действительно интересные.

Тамгалы Тас находится приблизительно в 120км от Алматы по Баканаской трассе на берегу реки Или, в 20км от Капчагайского водохранилища. Сами рисунки Буддистской тематики. Место популярно среди скалолазов. На берегу реки можно порыбачить. Из рыбы ловится карась, лещ, сазан, сом, жерех, судак и т.п. До места общественный транспорт не ходит, таксисты круто возьмут так как там километров 10 вообще нет асфальта. Лучше либо заказать услугу у тур фирмы либо нанять частника. Я нанимал частника на микроавтобусе HAICE так как нас было 9 человек. Зовут Александр номер 8 701 799 93 23. Не прогадали приехал во время, довез аккуратно, мы с ним даже чуток порыбачили и поймали сазанчика. Дорога заняла около 2х часов в одну сторону. От Алматы в сторону Талдыкургана делают новый автобан и дорога частично перекрыта или движение ограничено в 50 км в час. По приезду мы возле автобуса разбили мини лагерь, перекусили и пошли фотографироваться на скалах, народу было не много так как мы туда поехали в будний день. В общем если Вы любите историю то это место стоит посетить, кстати на противоположном берегу стоит крепость, построенная для съемки фильма Кочевники. Мы посетили и ее, но это в другом отзыве. Хорошо, что мы договорились с Александром и выехали рано утром. Дорога в общем занимает около 5 часов туда обратно. Говорят что посещать это место лучше с апреля по октябрь. Кстати на берегу встречаются верблюды, змеи и фаланги.

Тамгалы-Тас - конечно стоит посетить туристам кто приезжает в Алматы. Добираться лучше на такси, на общественном транспорте сложно. Ландшафты, река, наскальные рисунки...
