A museum that brings back to life he horrors of that era. Here, you experience the travel back in time. One feels the souls of the tortured ones moving in this place. Cannot help feeling moved to the core of the heart. To bring this effect alive, the museum is perfectly located. Its set up talks of the passionate way the Kazakh people look on their history of this era. A visit to Kazakhstan is not complete without a visit to karLag!

I was visiting Karaganda for business and had an opportunity to visit this museum. My grandfather was Volga German and immigrated to the US in about 1912 from the Saratov region of Russia. The Volga Germans were among the first interned at Karlag, but no family names were found among those interred there. This was a powerful experience. The museum has artifacts from the time period, but has displays that give you a sense for what it was like. You can read the heartfelt letters of prisoners who did not understand why they were there "as loyal Soviets." For me the most powerful part of the exhibit was the room of art produced by prisoners. Much of it was the same art produced anywhere, but some, with names like "not expected home," or "road to hell," are powerful testaments by those who were there. Great museum and well worth the visit.

An in-depth journey through the history of the Gulag system and the Dolinka Gulag in particular. The exhibition features room after room of photographs of the thousands of people trapped in the Gulag with examples of the paperwork, memories and facts & figures. The Museum also includes reproduction rooms of cells, offices and facilities of the Gulag with life-size models and items on display from the era. The museum is labelled in Russian and English. The entrance fee was 450 Tenge as we chose the non-guided tour, which meant that we were shown the route to take (and accompanied at all times by) one of the museum staff.When you visit this Museum, it is impossible to not be shocked, enraged and saddened by the scale of suffering experienced through this period of Soviet history.

Был там два раза, еще со школы, и год назад, впечатление разные в школе это было мега круто, особенно после рассказов и увидеть в живую, в прошлом году посетил туда чтобы вспомнить об этом месте, остаются также интересные впечатления узнаешь как все было на самом деле, место тихое, большое, проводят с тобой экскурсию, грамотно рассказывают и отвечают на вопросы. Окунитесь в историю, советую посетить!

Музей находится в поселке Долинка в Карагандинской области. Ходили всей семьей. Очень рекомендую посетить этот музей. Такое не должно повториться никогда!!!

все оч понравилось и цена за билет, и можно экскурсию взять, персонал оч приветливый, если будет холодно на улице и надо познакомиться с достопримечательностями города- оч рекомендую

Основан 24.02.2001 г. распоряжением Акима Карагандинской области, решением Акима г. Шахтинска по поручению президента РК.Музей расположен в здании бывшего Штаба КарЛАГа. Эти стены слышали столько криков, видели столько лиц, которые никогда не выходили из его подвалов своими ногами. В подвале с помощью инсталляций и восковых фигур воссоздана атмосфера карлага. Я была там несколько раз, каждый раз просто мурашки по коже и ком в горле. Осознание хрупкости и бесценности человеческой жизни....

Фотографировать категорически запрещают. Девушка-работница музея все время не отходила, чтобы не дай бог мобильный не достали и что-нибудь не сфоткали. Почему? Ведь правду надо распространять всеми доступными способами, но нет.Впрочем фотографировать там и нечего. Документы, которые вообще ни о чем. Многие документы специально подкладывают один под другой - почитать невозможно.В подвале находятся бочки в которых якобы мариновали умерших детей. В интернете все ссылки по подобному описанию ведут в этот самый музей. На вопрос работникам музея - "этого же не было" отвечают в духе "не было, но могло быть".Возникает вопрос - а это вообще музей чего? Зачем он?Жалко времени и денег. Давно хотел туда попасть и разочаровался.

Грустная часть истории Казахстана. Ужасный, жестокий лагерь времен ГУЛАГа, НКВД... Представлены и описаны все помещения лагеря, все виды применяемых репрессий... Стоит посетить этот музей, надо обязательно знать эту ужасную часть истории.
