I have being dying to visit this place but somehow things were not going in favour for me, as I had intentions to visit alone. Before my marriage I got a chance to visit and it was awesome. I had stand in a very long queue which was almost to the gate were vehicle pooja usually happens being a national holiday. After waiting for almost 2.5 hours it was a great feeling as blessings started pouring on you once you have entered inside. I got the first clear darshan from the main door after udaya asthamana pooja. Mind Blowing!!!! Then through the queue we entered inside the main temple. Offered my prayers, dakshina and then went around the temple. Finally Came out it was some feeling as all my harmful activities were forgiven by the Great Lord Krishna....

Most sacred place in Kerala devoted to LORD KRISHNA. Approx. 90 kms from Cochin in the hearts of Guruvaur town. Due to very long Que of devotees it takes 2-3 hours for the darshan of idol. Strict dress code is implemented and temple is closed during noon. All facilities like hotels, restaurants, shops, taxies, buses are available outside the temple.

The Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple, one of the most auspicious places of worship for Hindus; often referred to as "BhoolokaVaikuntam" (the holy abode of Vishnu on Earth) is a located in the town of Guruvayur with around 90 kms to cochin airport,20th dec morning we reached guruvayur with my husband..no words to explain... what a crowd..in december is the season of sabarimala devotes huge crowd is there,q of the devotes for the dharshan it will comes min 1.5km length....with the help of our tour operater vinod he make the arrangement for immediate dharshan because we are in hurry we want to catch the flight to mumbai in the evening at kochi, We were lucky to find “seeveli” happening when we entered the temple. Seeveli is a ceremonial procession with caparisoned elephants, usually done towards the end of morning and evening pooja,The procession with 4 elephants is majestic. Not knowing their language is a hindrance. But the temple's Administrator was of immense help as he quickly directed his people to take us through their routine procedure to pay our obeisance to the Deity. This is a traditional south Indian temple. The temple had beautiful decorations on the walls and there is a strict dress code to enter the temple, This is one of the must-visit temples for Hindus, whereas non-hindus are restricted from entering the temple.

Amidst all the turmoils and troubles of everyday life, a day in Guruvayur temple will surely set your mind at ease. The overpowering aura of Lord Krishna (as Guruvayurappan) is omnipresent in this temple town of Guruvayur. The temple still follows the ancient customs and traditions of yore - which in itself is a rarity in these days. The temple is open almost all through the day. Starting at 3 am (Nirmalyam, Vakacharthu, Alankaram etc) and ends up with the Athazha Seeveli at 9pm. The temple is normally closed between 1230 hrs and 1630 hrs for cleaning up and preparations for the poojas to follow.Entrance is regulated through a "Q" system - separate admission is available for ladies and senior citizens. A well organised system is available for distribution of prasadam. Manned by an ever helpful team of Guruvayur Devaswam employees, the entire working of the temple administration is a well oiled machine. The religious fervour generated by the teeming believers who flock this ancient temple adds to its charm. The temple per se, is said to be about 5000 years old and is considered to be the 'bhooloka' (earhly) abode of Lord Vishnu.Open only to Hindus, the temple has a dress code and a very strict policy of not allowing cameras and mobile phones.Tha ambience, the religious fervour and the sanctity of this ancient temple makes it undoubted a must visit spot for every Hindu.
