I visited the reserve with my 4 nieces, sister, and brother-in-law, and we had a great time. The ziplines were really fun and accessible (but the 6-year-old was too small for it). We even tried to feed the monkeys bananas, but they were too full! I highly recommend this place, especially to families traveling in the area.

...there's also a playground with swings on zip lines (my kids loved these), monkeys, raccoons, and tons of room to run around. This is a great place to go with a family. You can easily kill a few hours doing whatever everyone wants to do.There's a prices for general admission and an upcharge for zip lining (there's two different routes). If you don't do the zip lines at least do the hike the zip line crew goes on, it's beautiful and you'll see the wildlife.Pro tip, bring bug spray!Pro tip II, don't miss the butterflies. I'm from Seattle and we have a BIG butterfly exhibit there. This one blows it away...even if you don't like butterflies. Be sure to check it out.

Very nice butterfly house, helpful staff . I would have like a pamphlet in english giving a little history, identifying the two kinds of monkeys and some of the butterfliesworth a visit , but take a tuk tuk , it is a wyas up the hill

I loved visiting the reserve while I was at Panajachel. You can go zip-lining or just walk around. Not far from Panajachel and not that close either. A good 20 minute walk or a 8 minute tuk-tuk taxi ride. Don't expect much from the Butterfly exhibit. It was ok, but nothing special.

Thanks for taking the time to write about your experience at the Nature Reserve. We are immediately evaluating our maps to make them more accurate and easier to read.As for the inadequate information provided by the counter clerk, our customer relations manager has identified the person who "rushed" you "through the description of the attractions available." Our intent is to retrain our clerks and provide our visitors with appropriate detail, useful information and, above all, the time to learn about your interests and the ways in which we can meet them.We are also checking once again our trail signs to make sure they are at the right places and have the correct information. But more importantly, we are taking measure so that any person who needs help with directions is met by a courteous and able guide. We thank you once more, for providing this review, useful for us to improve the experience you have whenever you return to Atitlán.

We landed in Pana and took a tuk tuk to the reserve. Easy to get to and less than 10 minutes from the pier. The hike is relatively easy. We met a couple of workers picking coffee beans at the reserve and they stopped to let us taste the beans. Very scenic. They have zip lines as well but if you plan to zip line, make sure you let them know when you enter. If you walk up to the zip lines on your own, it's not operational. You need someone from the facility to get you into gear by the entrance and they take you through a short cut to the lines. Many suspension bridges, waterfalls, and animals, including spider monkeys. Great way to spend a few hours.

After touring the small museum where you will learn about the ecology of Lake Atitlan and the history of the area, take a walk through mountainous groomed trails that traverse streams using suspension bridges. For the thrill of a lifetime sign up for the zipline canopy tour (Cables X-Tremos) and traverse the mountains and have a bird's eye view of the lake and the splendor. It is so beautiful and I am afraid of heights! The two guides are extremely compentent and well trained and guarantee your absolute safety. After, at ground level, try your hand at the ropes course. Visit the butterfly sanctuary and a private trail to Lake Atitlan. The Reserve is a Government owned and operated facility and when I take groups to Guatemala it is a hands dow favorite for all ages.

My husband and I went here specifically for the butterfly garden which was fantastic by itself. However, since the price of admission also includes two hiking loops, one to the beach and one to the waterfall, we were there for about 3 hours. The suspension bridges were thrilling especially when viewing the waterfall! We were lucky and got to see a spider monkey and a pack of Koatis. :)
