厄勒海峡大桥(也称欧尔松大桥)跨度16公里，连接哥本哈根和瑞典第三大城市马尔默，于1995年开始动工。欧尔松大桥西部的起点哥本哈根国际机场早就进入了各项前期准备工作。如扩建机场、修建连接市中心的公路、铁路，建设新的国际列车站。一系列的基础设施建设将使哥本哈根国际机场进一步提高知名度和扩大客货流量，进一步加强丹、瑞两国和它们与欧洲大陆的联系。欧尔松大桥完工后，它所连接的丹麦东部地区和瑞典南部地区将成为北欧及波罗的海地区国际性都市群最密集、经济最活跃、文化交流最频繁的地区。
欧尔松大桥的咨询设计工作由丹麦和瑞典的科威、维比比两家公司共同承担。其建造与大贝尔特桥类似，在海峡中建造一座1.3平方公里的人工岛，为避免干扰飞向哥本哈根国际机场的飞机航线和为国际航运留出通行水道，靠近哥本哈根的西端为铁路与公路合用的海底隧道，东端为公路和铁路合用桥。
以1990年价格计算，欧尔松大桥建设工程的预算为210亿丹麦克朗。桥梁建成通车后预计日车流量为1万辆，隧道设计能力为日车流量3万辆，经提高通风能力后，可以继续提高车流量50%。
欧尔松大桥的东桥建有200米高的中央桥墩和57米高的船舶通过空间，保证过往海峡的船只从桥底顺利通行。大桥工程经过两国政府的认真论证和调查研究，对确保大桥不影响进入波罗的海的水流及减少对海洋生物破坏等都作了严格的规定。
欧尔松大桥于2000年6月建成完工，并于7月1日正式通车。其工程投资将通过征收过桥费收回。

This is a brilliant modern day bridge connecting Copenhagen to Malmo by road and rail, making them virtually twin cities. It is possibly to live in one city and make a quick 40 minute commute to the other city.

The bridge offers a great connection from Copenhagen Central Station to Malmö with DSB trains. There bridge is also a great road bridge and makes Denmark extremely accessible! Remember to read Tips of Travel by Britishflyers!

We used this bridge on our way to Malmo by bus. It gives travellers good views of the sea as well as small settlements around the borders of Denmark and Sweden. Interesting link between the 2 countries.
