Yalu Jiang Wetland is the top site for migrating shorebirds in the Yellow Sea. In April and early May it hold amazing numbers of birds migrating from the Southern hemisphere on their way to breed in the Arctic. The numbers and diversity are incredible. Access is along the sea wall and once you get used to where to go and when to be there it easy to see large numbers of godwits, knots dunlins and many other species

We went here by car 1 May 2013 to see what this was all about. The roads were very good. Every here and there you could drive down to the water and see the Korea Bay. There weren't many people out and about, but some were having picnics, others collecting things etc. It was very peaceful and quite, and a nice contrast to some very hectic places around. If you are driving from Donggang to Dalian I would definitely recommend this route as an alternative to the motorway. It is very interesting to see the fishermen working, the horizon and everything else that comes along.
