Tianshui has other attractions besides Maijishan grottoes! 87 km from the Tianshui Railway Station is the Elephant Mountain where one can enjoy the greenery as well as the clay statue of Sakyamuni carved onto the mountain more than 300 years and four dynasties. The blue moustache was added by a merchant who had promised to return if he succeeded in his business. Of unique significance are the hole niches on the cliff, a chancel and the Buddhist niche for the monks to practice Buddhism.
