Huihanggudao (Huihang Ancient Road) is an ancient trade route followed by the merchants from Anhui province to Zhejiang province. It has important role in Chinese history like silk route and tea route. It is the best trekking route near to Shanghai , away from the crowd and hectic busy city. Many people doesn’t know about it , so the place is not very crowded like other Chinese tourist places. We have visited there during April 2014.The whole trekking route is around 20 km, we completed it in one and a half days and if you are experienced you can complete it in one day.How to get in and get out:1) Take an overnight train to Jixi (we travelled from Shanghai)2) Take a bus /taxi to the starting of the route – Jiangnan Diyi Guang3) At the end of the trekking we reached Yonglai village in Zhejiang Province.4) Take taxi or bus from there to HangzhouWhere to Stay:1) Accommodation facilities are minimal in the route2) We stayed at a point Xixue tang (xixue hall). There is a small restaurant and hotel. They even lend tents.3) Seems there is another option also at Lantian Ao Point.4) It is better to carry some food during the trekking.
