It's well maintained for such a landmark near Hsinchu Train Station. It serves as a reference point for me to walk back to my hotel (Forte) since this is the best, recognizable landmark to follow.

When city center is mention, 東門城 is which residents of Hsinchu city think of. Circled by streets that lead you to all great places in Hsinchu city, you can take a start here to explore this small but charming city. You can see some remain of the ancient walls of the city around this area. Although they are not as grand or well-decorated as other traditional Chinese city, you can still experience history when you pass by.

The gate is nicely maintained but its situated in a large roundabout which maked it a bit harder to reach and there's not much to see up close.

East Gate of Hsinchu City is not only a popular local landmark but also it is a place surrouded by many bussiness districts. The translation is very well-developed, you can take a shuttle bus along the street. So do not worry you might get lost or some problems else. Sincerely by Eaton.
