Recently, we waited 45 minutes to file through the Mausoleum (with thousands of others - mainly Chinese) to see a statue of Mao sitting in all his splendour and then to walk past a wax replica of Chairman Mao, lying in state, with his head/face lighted from under/beneath.Therefore, my advice would be to 'leave well alone', unless you're a follower. If you don't visit, those to whom a visit clearly seems to mean so much, will get in just that little bit more quickly.
