an inexpensive look at some military static displays showing the basic aircraft, in poor condition in the most part, but still worth the 30p entrance fee sit in a MIG get a feel for the engineers who are working on more modern projects never busy so you can take your time overall worth the time. Reflective of the Mao era which is a good thing with plenty of displayed literature well dated.

Plenty of exhibits of retired jets. I forgot whether the entrance fee was 20 or 25 RMB. Everything looks fine and dandy from a distance, just don't look too closely at the details and you'll be happier. It's worth visiting especially if you are into aircrafts and history.

This museum is for old military air-crafts and here you can touch them, explore them from every corner and even see the cockpits. Moreover, an explanatory exhibition helps you understand various parts and details of an aircraft. Do visit this museum if you are in Shenyang, you do not get such chance anywhere else so easily. Entry fee is 30 RMB and one hour of time is sufficient to see this place. This museum is close to Beiling Park (2-3 Kms distance)

As has been said before elsewhere, this place is really tucked away and is not well known even by the locals, which is impressive when you think that Shenyang is a major aviation city. The price when we visited was 30yuan an adult and our three-year-old son entered free, Inside the gates is a spacious courtyard which hosts a number of jet aircraft, an array of fighters and fighter bombers, alongside an older propellor driven fighter and a transport aircraft. Although the cockpits are sealed, access is not restricted by fences or cordons and three of the jets have access ladders to let you look in the cockpit.Inside, the museum has a fantastic full-scale fighter in the lobby and an engaging tour, showing some of the basics of aviation and a history of the company, mainly in Chinese (as one would expect), but with some translations in some of the sections. The final area has hands-on section for the kids, although when we went a couple of the attractions were out of order. Most importantly, we went on a major public holiday and even then, the museum was only lightly attended, whilst other attractions around the city were packed, so a true hidden gem.

This museum is so well hidden ( at Beiling airport) not even my wife and mother in law new about it and they are natives on Shenyang. The museum has two parts, the outside has several planes charting the development of jet planes in China. The inside explains why this museum is in Shenyang and how China developed jet planes. If you are in the area it's worth taking time to visit.

A small but very interesting museum if you like planes. You can even sit in a MIG (the front part anyway!). I love it. Been twice and would go again when I have a visitor needing a tour guide.

There are about 10 aircraft at this museum sited at the AVIC aircraft factory. Most are jet fighters parked outside, but you can sit in the cockpit of one inside the museum. Some of the signage is in English, and I found the staff friendly.I got there using a cheap taxi ride from the station.
