Sadly, this museum is only small and difficult to find due to poor signage. The only English sign outside refers to a 'Teaching Base', so it is best recognised by two old cannon outside the main entrance. Even the man on the gate asked me where I was going! Still, at least it's free and is currently undergoing some refurbishment to improve its jaded interior. Most labelling of the exhibits is in Chinese only...

For a city with such an amazing history, I was disappointed that there was not more to see. There are a few artifacts and a lot of pictures. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more if there was English. I'm guessing the best artifacts are kept in the provincial museum in Zhengzhou. Also, the bathroom were dirty squatty potties.

There are 4 floors of artifacts found around China and in Kaifeng. One is a stela in Hebrew. There was a Jewish presence in the city until fairly recently, and the museum has a couple of artifacts documenting this. The museum is well-worth visiting, especially if you are interested in the history of the city and the area.
